June 2025 Runoff Election Update

The city of San Antonio runoff election is over and we have our new Mayor-elect and City Council! Voter turnout was better in the runoff at 16.99%, compared to 9.27%  in the May general election. The new Council will be sworn in on June 18 and will immediately begin work on the City’s FY 2026-2027 Budget and the San Antonio Downtown Sports & Entertainment District details.

San Antonio Mayor’s Race:

Introducing Mayor Elect Ortiz Jones

Mayoral candidate Gina Ortiz Jones has been elected as our new Mayor of San Antonio, and is the third woman to serve in our City’s history.
She won with 54.30% of the vote.

San Antonio’s next mayor is Gina Ortiz Jones, an Air Force veteran who served in the Biden administration

District 1:

Incumbent Councilwoman Dr. Sukh Kaur has been re-elected for a second term to City Council District 1. She won with 64.99% of the vote.

District 6:

Ric Galvan has been elected to City Council District 6. This is the closest race we have seen in a long time. Ric won with 25 votes over Kelly Ann Gonzalez. He won with 50.11% of the vote.

Ivalis Meza Gonzalez has been elected to City Council District 8. She won with 57.35% of the vote.
