Election Day is 16 days away and the ballot includes 27 mayoral candidates and 59 city council candidates For the first time in 16 years, the Mayor's seat is open, and City Council Districts 4, 6, 8, and 9 are vacant. Onyx Political Affairs is sharing information about campaign events and news for the upcoming May Election. We are promoting campaign events so that you can get to know everyone running. This does not mean that we endorse a specific candidate.

Filing for the May 2025 election has now closed and the field is set with 88 candidates to appear on the May 3 ballot. There are 27 mayoral candidates and 61 city council candidates. The new Mayor and Councilmembers will now serve 4-year terms and receive a pay increase.

116,483 ballots were cast in Bexar County, with voter turnout at 9.26%. Early voting turnout was especially low.

The city of San Antonio runoff election is over and we have our new Mayor-elect and City Council! Voter turnout was better in the runoff at 16.99%, compared to 9.27% in the May general election. The new Council will be sworn in on June 18 and will immediately begin work on the City's FY 2026-2027 Budget and the San Antonio Downtown Sports & Entertainment District details.
